DAMASK Silk
Damask is one of the most luxurious woven silk fabrics in the world. It is handmade of 100% natural silk woven on a hand jacquard loom (النول). The fabric takes its name from the city of Damascus in Syria which was extremely invested in the silk industry. Damask Silk is considered a major part of the ancient Damascene heritage.
Wood MOSAIC
Wood mosaic is an ancient handicraft that has been part of the Damascene heritage for more than 300 years. It consists of diverse types of wood assembled and inlayed with seashells forming various geometrical patterns. In the nineteenth century, Gergi Bitar a dedicated and creative artisan, elevated this craft to the level of Art and established Damascus as the centre of it.
Silver FILIGREE
Filigree is an ancient traditional form of art for which the city of Aleppo in Syria is famous for. This art is achieved with small and detailed beads and twisted threads of silver fused together creating a very delicate ornament. Its fragility is often assimilated to the texture of lace. It must be stated that Silver Filigree is not specific to the Middle Eastern heritage but is part of it.
